For those of you doubting your abilities, we’re all faking it
Am I even good at what I do?
The question that pops into our heads at some of the weirdest times that makes us doubt our abilities.
It popped into my head recently and I realized something.
We’re all just faking it.
We all have no idea what we’re talking about and just act on intuition. We make a bet and try out a solution.
It’s just a game of who seems the most convincing at the time.
I’m learning its just a game of making decisions and getting feedback. I’ve found myself at a standstill with my ability to make decisions.
There is a way to get better at feeling like you know what you’re doing.
Read Annie Duke’s book “Thinking In Bets”. Practice building the muscles of making decisions and become more convincing.
Accept the feedback of the decisions and move forward making another bet.
I think accepting that life is all a collection of experiences also helps ease the stress here. I may not know what I am doing now, but if I make a decision and learn from my experience then I now have an idea of what I’m doing in that realm.
So remember, we’re all just faking it. Some are just better at taking bets than others. Start taking bets.
