Learn to solve your business problems with this simple technique

When you encounter a problem, it’s best to run away from it.

Burry your head in the sand until it goes away. Or is there a different way of looking at it?

Problems are persistent.

The best way to approach a problem is to invert.

Don’t look at it for what it is. Flip the conventional thinking on its head.

Inversion and perspective go hand in hand. For example, you have a teammate who you’ve been disagreeing with a lot lately. Instead of going toe to toe, take a step back and look at the situation. How much of the disagreement is your ego or you trying to push an agenda that doesn’t align?

Inversion can be thought of as reframing.

Dickie Bush explains the inversion principle as “instead of thinking of what to do to solve the problem, ask how you could guarantee the problem persists.”

He gives the example… instead of asking “what should I do to get a better night’s sleep?” ask “how can I guarantee I have a horrible night’s sleep?”

Don’t focus on the solutions; focus on the inputs.
